AUGUST 2018

After the summer workshop at MIT, the School of Engineering recruited more students from its majors and communications to consolidate the team that would develop a first nanosatellite in collaboration with MIT.

DECEMBER 2018

"Misión Colibrí" was born. Its name comes from the ancient Mexican culture in which this small bird was considered a warrior with the gift of transporting the dreams of humans around the Earth... it is an analogy with the nanosatellites.

Universidad Panamericana signs an agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology through MISTI-MIT and joins its international science and technology initiatives.

SUMMER 2018

The MIT Space Propulsion Lab invited students from the School of Engineering to participate in a workshop on the construction of CubeSat-type nanosatellites. This summer was the origin

of "Pakal" project.

Colibri Mission brought together 10 CEOs of technology companies from Mexico and around the world to form an Advisory Board to promote the fundraising and networking activities of this space laboratory.

July 8, 2021

AistechSpace, a Spanish space company, donates a ground station to Misión Colibrí for telecommunication with "Pakal". This antenna was installed at the UP campus Aguascalientes.

The donation campaign lasted 45 days and 373 donors participated. A total of $14,600 USD was raised. Each donor received a digital boarding pass certifying that his or her name will travel aboard "Pakal".

November 12, 2020

The team presented a Pre-Critical Design Review to a panel from NASA, MIT and AEM. This second technical review, being remote, was broadcast on social media.

MARCH 2020

The Universidad Panamericana is committed to double each donation received for Misión Colibrí (Matching Fund) to reach the fundraising goal of 2 MDD needed to complete the "Pakal" project.

AUGUST 2019

Colibri Mission presents in Boston its first technical review before a panel of reviewers from NASA and MIT.

This Preliminary Design Review was attended by students from Campus CDMX and Aguascalientes.

The Rector of Universidad Panamericana campus CDMX and the Director of the Mexican Space Agency signed a collaboration agreement to include Misión Colibrí in the agenda of Mexican space projects.

Colibri Mission consolidates as the space laboratory of the Universidad Panamericana, whose objective is to develop space technology that contributes to the solution of global problems.

Its mission is to put talent into orbit!

November 16, 2022

The Colibri Space Laboratory won the ILAN University Innovation Award 2022.

This recognition will give the team the opportunity to participate in forums allied to the foundation.
